Run Number 2 - Couch to 5K

Updated: Feb 28, 2021

Welcome to our Run 2 blog and huge congratulations to everyone who has made a start and completed their first run.

It has been inspiring hearing your stories and seeing all your pictures. So many of your comments have shared a common theme, “I never thought I would be able to do this”. Well it just goes to show what willpower, determination and a supportive team behind us can achieve so I hope you are all feeling very proud of your achievement so far.

We all set ourselves a goal when setting up the Couch to 5K app e.g. get fit and feel healthier, prepare for a race, challenge ourselves & run regularly or perhaps another reason.

We’d love to hear your reasons for signing up to the challenge so please do share them in the comments section below.

Lynn chose to set herself 2 goals and explains the reasons behind her choices below;

1. To get out in the fresh air more often

Working from home full time has meant I am sitting indoors in front of a computer all day and then I haven't been able to motivate myself to go out as it is too cold or too dark however with the evenings pulling out this challenge will give me the incentive to go out at least 3 times a week

2. To challenge myself & run regularly

I have never felt the inclination to run and it’s true to say if you ever saw me running the chances are I was late for the theatre or a spider was in very close proximity! However, I have now completed 2 runs and am changing my mindset and maybe, just maybe, I can actually run (or perhaps jog is closer to the mark).

Whatever your reason for signing up, channel that feeling you get after you have completed your run and hang on to how it makes you feel (there will be more on the reasons you feel so great in the next blog).

So, keep going everyone, Team CheeziFit are right behind you every step of the way and don’t forget to share your stories, photos and videos below.

It's still not to late to join in so if you would like more information about Couch to 5K visit the NHS site HERE where you can download the app and get lots more information on exercise tips and fitness guides.

Just completed run 2! Didn’t feel like doing it if I’m honest after a busy day at work but knew I would feel worse if I didn’t do it! Pleased that it felt a bit easier than last time, maybe because I had my eldest running with me tonight. Still feel extremely self conscious so left it until later this time and it was lovely and quiet. Hoping my quads won’t feel so sore this time and I can sit down on little people’s chairs in school tomorrow without a groan and a grimace! 🤣xx

I did not want to go running this morning! 😒

I felt achy and sore and it's all my own fault as I keep forgetting that my 40 year old body cannot do the same things as my 20 year old body, and I throw myself (especially my legs) about, thinking I can keep up with my students and show them that I've still got it. 🤣 (I'm a dance teacher)

I opened the front door to glorious warm sunshine, and my mood was immediately lifted.

Today's run was sponsored by 90's Dance hits, so I blasted "You Sure Do" by Strike into my headphones and off I went around the outside of Central Park where there are some killer…

Run 2 completed. Took the same route, as I turned the corner remembered my 2nd run would be on the hill although today I was further up the hill. Found it marginally should I say it?? Easier! although not sure if that was because of the 80s work out playlist!!

At the end of the run when Sarah came in my ear and told me there were 2 more runs this week I almost had a heart attack!!

Lovely day out there, was nice not to run against the wind.

However I am still trying to work out how 60 secs feels so much longer than 90 secs 🤔

Let's see if I can keep this going whilst I am…

Brilliant Teresa, I had a similar sense of impending doom when I feared I clicked on Run 1 again after hearing Sarah cheerfully reminding me I had 2 runs left 😂. Keep going- you are doing fantastically 🏃‍♀️

Run 2 done, didn’t pick the best route but I didn’t it. Sarah Milligan was avin a laugh with me, told me on the warm down that I had 2 runs left this week, I panicked and thought I’d clicked on run 1 again lol. Think I need to get that heart rate down lol

Brilliant Sandra - I think Sarah needs to re-phrase her words of encouragement before we all have a coronary at the thought of extra runs 😂. We'll done- keep it up 🏃‍♀️
