Well, today is the first day of our 9 week challenge on the Couch to 5 K programme. How are you feeling? Excited? Nervous? Determined? Focused? I have to admit I am slightly daunted by the prospect but equally excited and determined that I CAN and WILL do this, despite being a non-runner!
Remember you can complete your runs at times that are convenient to you and the app recommends that you allow yourself at least a days rest in between especially if you are a beginner. All you have to do is complete 3 in a week.
Are you an early bird? Perhaps you might squeeze it into your lunch break or maybe later is the day as a way of de-stressing after a busy day at work. Whenever you choose to do it, be sure to let us know.
Evidence suggests that running regularly will improve the health of your heart and lungs.
There's also evidence it may help increase bone density in some people, which can help protect against bone diseases like osteoporosis.
There are also mental benefits of running. Taking on the challenge of Couch to 5K can help boost your confidence and self-belief, as you prove to yourself that you can set yourself a target and achieve a goal.
Hooray! Run 1 completed and I'm still smiling at the end. I'm feeling quite chuffed and even more determined now 🏃♀️🏃♀️
