As committed volunteers for Help for Heroes for over 6 years, Ros and Gilly have proudly taught CheeziFit and Pilates at the Plymouth Recovery Centre to the veteran's and beneficiaries and have been joined by Lynn around her work commitments teaching CheeziFit too.
Over the years Team CheeziFit have hosted numerous annual charity CheeziFit classes to raise much needed funds for this worthwhile charity and even took to Zoom in 2020 for an online Charity class when the pandemic put a stop to group classes.
A sea of red, white and blue is visible at these events as our participants wholeheartedly support the venture by dressing up in their patriotic costumes. We have even been joined by Hero Bear; Help for Heroes loveable mascot.
Thousands of pounds have been raised by our very generous participants and supporters who have come together to take part in fancy dress competitions, raffles, guess the weight of the cake and much, much more. This has always been a highlight to every year.
Many of our friends and families in Plymouth have been supported, cared for by and personally affected by the kindness found at St Luke's Hospice Plymouth and their dedicated staff.
Every year St Luke's Hospice Plymouth organises an annual Midnight Walk to raise money and awareness for this reputable and much needed institution.
Team CheeziFit have been privileged to support this event by leading the warm-up to several thousand participants, handing out medals at the end of the event and generally helping out where needed.
It's a magical and emotional event and we are thrilled that so many of our fantastic CheeziFitters have supported it either by taking part in the sponsored walk and raising vital funds or by volunteering their services as marshalls.
For the past 10 years from November to mid December we have supported and donated to Plymouth Foodbank.
A plea is sent out to all our classes asking for donations from those in a position to help those who are less fortunate. Every single tin or packet of food donated helps.
Team CheeziFit ensures all donations are delivered to the Foodbank where they are weighed and recorded by their selfless team of volunteers before being distributed to those in need; collectively helping those who need it most in the winter months and leading up to Christmas.
In 2019 over 410kg of food and toiletries, equating to over 64 stone, was donated by our wonderful community of CheeziFitters.
In 2020 and 2021 we have continued to support the charity by collecting food at the beginning of the pandemic and raising funds during the year.
